I am a Spinal Neurosurgeon and a Professor of Neurosurgery with more than 23 years of experience with various reputed universities and hospitals in Brazil, USA, KSA and in UAE.
I had my Medical School in the University of Brasilia, Residency in Neurosurgery in the Base Hospital of Brasilia, and Master
Degree (MSc) in Brazil. Subsequently, in 1997, I had a short Post-residency Training at the John Hopkins Hospital and New York University, in USA.
I had my Fellowship in Spinal Surgery with some of the most reputed hospitals in USA, the John Hopkins and the University of Wisconsin Hospital, from 1999 until 2000.
After I became sup-specialized in Spine Surgery in USA, I returned to Brazil to work as a Professor of Neurosurgery and Spinal Surgeon, obtaining my Doctoral Degree (PhD) in Neurosurgery from the University of Brasilia, in 2009.
During those years I developed my career as a Spinal Surgeon and as a Professor of Neurosurgery and Neurosciences at the University of Cuiaba (UNIC) and Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT), Brazil. From 2011 until 2012, I went back to USA to have my Post-doctorate in Spinal Neurosurgery in the University of Wisconsin Hospital.
At the end of 2012, I was invited to work as a Spinal Surgeon at the Dr Sulaiman Al Habib Spinal Hospital, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from 2013 until 2015.
I was invited to work at the Medcare Orthopedics & Spine Hospital (MOSH), in Dubai, UAE, where I worked from 2015 until 2020. In 2020, I was invited to join the King’s College Hospital in Dubai, where I have the honour to work and contribute as a Spinal Neurosurgeon.
I continue my academic activities, as a Visiting Professor of Neurosurgery for the Medical School and Residency Program of Neurosurgery, at the University of Cuiaba (UNIC-HGU), in Brazil, and participate as a speaker, researcher, organizer of several scientific meetings, workshops, conferences and medical events in the region and abroad.
I am currently involved in research study projects here and in Brazil, and I have published many papers and book chapters related to my field of expertise. I am the Academic Editor of the Section of Spinal Surgery of the well-known Journal Medicine®, USA, and a Reviewer of many medical journals.
I was awarded as Honorary Research Fellow of the University of Wisconsin, in USA, and sworn as Honorary Member of the Sao Paulo Medical Academy (AMSP), in Brazil.
I’m an active Member of the North American Spine Society (NASS, USA), since 2008, and many other spinal societies. As a member of NASS, I am also a Member of the NASS’ Clinical Practice Guideline Committee. I’ve been using evidence-based
medicine (EBM) on the clinical practice and in my lectures, presentations, publications and other scientific events. I am a member of the international Cervical Advisory Board Faculty (Medtronic®, USA). I have the honour of also belong to the Emirates Society
of Neurological Surgeons since I’ve moved to UAE, in 2015, attending the annual meetings as a guest speaker and participating of the Scientific Committee.
