Consultant Spine Surgeon, Himchan – UHS Joint & Spine Center, Sharjah University Hospital

I was born in Seoul, South Korea and moved to Jakarta, Indonesia at the age of 12. Had international middle and high school education and went back to Seoul for medical college in 1997. Residency training was fantastic, learning all the surgeries done in neurosurgery field, including the spine surgery.

What fascinated me was, when I started my carrier as a neurosurgery specialist was the huge potentials of endoscope in treating spinal diseases, especially degenerative spinal diseases with which most outpatient are coming to the clinic for. Not like the classic endoscope technique like PELD (Percutaneous Endoscopic Lumbar Discectomy), which only has narrow spectrum of indications, the endoscopic surgery techniques nowadays uses drills and punches, just like the ordinary open surgeries. Even fusion surgeries are possible and are being done by many experienced surgeons, which was never possible with classical endoscope techniques. I have been working as a consultant neurosurgeon, specialized in spine surgeries, for 4 years and 2 months in UAE at Himchan Spine and Joint clinic of University Hospital Sharjah. I have been providing the state of art of spine treatment ever since I moved to UAE. Now is the time to discuss deeply about the endoscopic spine surgery in UAE as well, to be the leading country in middle east in terms of spine surgery. Let’s do this!!!!
